In the northern corner of our parish, close to the Dutch border, you will find the wooded area of Postel, boasting an imposing abbey dating from the twelfth century. The Norbertine monks have been living and working in the area ever since, always honouring their great tradition of hospitality.
Sunday animal market
The animal market - known locally as the 'rabbit market' - has taken place for more than one hundred and twenty five years. Every Sunday professional dealers as well as occasional sellers offer poultry, rabbits, fish, rodents and birds for sale.
Town walk: The nail on the head
Our town centre boasts several sites of historical interest which we have mapped out for you. You discover them by following the nails in the pavement. During this fascinating town walk you will be immersed in the history, architecture and culture of our town. The historical sites have information boards with text and photos.
Zilvermeer recreational area
The Zilvermeer is perhaps the most well-known of our tourist attractions. Every summer since 1959 thousands of national and international visitors have been drawn to the pristine white beach to enjoy the sunshine. The recreational area is situated in beautiful, wooded surroundings.
